“I should've fucked you or killed you the first time I met you,” he mumbled against her neck.
Her heart started beating faster as she couldn't tell if it was a threat or hesitation, but either way, it made her feel disgusted. And his warm breath against her neck wasn't making it any better. It crawled under her skin.
She shoved him back and threw a straight punch right into his face. She watched his lip split open, blood rolling down his chin. She just stared at him. Disgusted and full of rage. She watched him grin shamelessly, like she hadn't just bloodied his face. Something about that made her stomach twist even more.
Then a hand suddenly wrapped around her waist, pulling her toward his hard chest. She felt it before she could react, the warmth of him, the solidness, and her breath hitched against her will. She hated that.
“What do you think yo—”
She couldn't finish the sentence before she felt his lips brush against hers. He was wiping his blood off on her mouth. She stopped breathing for a second. “What the actual fuck. Is that a kiss? My first kiss and it's from my kidnapper??” She didn't even look at him. She didn't have to. She could still feel his blood on her lips, warm and wrong.
“Nice lip shade, little poison.” His voice came out mocking, teasing her like it was nothing. Like he was proud of himself.
She wiped the blood from her lips with the back of her palm, glaring at him in disbelief, anger still burning inside her. she glared at him.
“You... You are a psycho. A sick-headed person...” she snapped, disgust clear on her face. “W-what do you want? Just... let me go already...” this time, her voice came out lower, almost frustrated. She tilted her head to look at him properly, ready to argue again, only for her expression to slowly change.
His eyes had already fallen shut. Then his head dropped onto her lap.
She froze for a second, confusion flashing across her face. From his slow breathing, she could tell he hadn’t fainted.
Did he just fall asleep? Right here? In the middle of an argument?
Her brows pulled together before a small, disbelieving scoff almost left her. Is he serious? This can’t be real.
She almost shook her head before her eyes suddenly landed on the blood-stained knife lying just an arm’s length away. The same knife he had stabbed into his man’s palm a few minutes ago. Her throat went dry.
Slowly, carefully, she reached for it, trying not to wake him up. This was her chance. And she had to take it. She bent slightly, fingers finally wrapping around the knife.
A strange feeling hit her the moment she held it. Seeing herself holding a knife to hurt someone else was never something she imagined for herself.
When she wanted to become a doctor, she had sworn to save lives. Not take them.
A flicker of pain crossed her face. But she had to survive. She had to get away from this living hell. Away from this monster. The thought alone hardened her expression again. No matter what, she would survive.
“J-just one stab won’t kill him, right?” she reassured herself quietly.
But escaping this place wouldn’t be easy either. That much she already knew. She had no idea where she was, who these people really were, or how she was supposed to get out of here alive.
Lost in her thoughts, she forced herself back to reality. Her grip tightened around the knife as she slowly raised it.
Just as she was about to stab him–
“I haven’t slept for days... just let me sleep for a while...”
His voice came out weak, almost like a plea. A soft whisper that didn’t sound anything like the man she had seen earlier.
She froze instantly. Her heart clenched slightly before she could stop it. The knife nearly slipped from her hand.
As she watched him slowly sit up, casually cracking his neck from side to side, her grip on the knife tightened again.
“Dang... I nearly fell asleep,” he mumbled under his breath, sounding almost disappointed in himself.
She stared at him in disbelief while he scrunched his nose slightly, completely unbothered by what had almost happened a second ago.
“You are a weirdo,” she stated flatly, eyebrows pulling together.
“I’m well aware, little poison,” he replied lazily, pointing a finger toward her. “But I prefer being called a daredevil.” A grin slowly spread across his face before he leaned back slightly.
“You know what, little Miss? This is the third time you’ve attempted murder on this handsome man.”
He started counting dramatically on his fingers.
“First, you smashed my head while I was treating your wound. Dang, you heartless woman,” he said, placing a hand over his chest with a fake hurt expression.
“Second... how could you leave a heavily injured man bleeding alone in the woods? So cruel.” He let out a dramatic sigh, shaking his head.
“And last but not least...” his gaze dropped to the knife still in her hand before he looked back at her again.
“You punched this handsome face of mine.” He sounded personally offended. “Unacceptable. Totally unacceptable.”
Then he pointed at the knife.
“And now you were about to stab me with the same knife I punished my man with?” He clutched his chest again, acting wounded by betrayal itself.
Her eyebrows nearly twitched at his performance, her face full of disbelief.
“You kidnapped me,” she snapped. “More like I was trafficked here, just to remind you. So my actions are completely justified.”
She watched him roll his eyes, as if he didn’t like being called out.
“Guess you’re coming home with me now, little poison,” he stated casually.
“Wh-what? Home? Look, whoever you are, just let me go...” She was seriously done with him now.
His flat expression said it all. Not possible. Yeah, obviously.
She let out a frustrated sigh as the realization slowly hit her. Escaping him might actually be harder than escaping this place.
So for now, following him seemed like the safer option.
She didn’t even realize how close he was standing until she suddenly saw his hand waving in front of her face for attention.
“I bet you’re planning my murder or escape, aren’t you, little poison?”
Something shifted in the atmosphere then.
The grin on his face sat somewhere between a smile and a threat.
