“She’s dead... freaking dead, you bastard. Get your senses back.”
Maan grabs Ekagra by the collar, shaking him hard before landing a punch straight to his face. The impact makes Ekagra stumble back into the desk. The vase, ashtray, and files crash down around him. Blood started dripping from his nose as his vision blurs. he can barely see. And his head won’t stop throbbing.
“My sister is gone, you fucker.” Maan shakes his head, dragging a hand through his hair in frustration. “It’s time you get that into your head and go back to your fiancée. You’ve been hurting yourself for years now. And you’re doing the same to that innocent girl.”
Maan’s voice drops.
“She came to me again… in my dreams.” ekagra's voice cracked slightly..
Tears slip down one after another. “Those eyes… that smile… she asked me for her first kiss.”
A broken laugh escapes him. “I promised her, didn’t I…?”
He collapses to the floor, clutching his hair, fingers tightening. It’s hard to tell if it’s the pain or frustration tearing through him.
“I couldn’t sleep. Same shit every night.”
“I wake up and it’s her face again. Every damn time.” A broken breath escapes him, almost like a laugh, but not quite.
Maan watches him, jaw tightening. He can’t tell what’s worse, the fact that Ekagra is crying, or that he’s smiling at the same time.
Maan watches him for a moment, then looks away, letting out a quiet breath.
“You’re slowly killing yourself, man.”
He lets out another frustrated sigh and turns toward the door, not sparing Ekagra another glance. Just a warning, wrapped in concern.
“You either let that girl heal you, the one who’s your responsibility now, or you forget about my sister. She is gone.” His expression hardens again.
“If you don’t, I’ll be the one putting a bullet in your head… and end your suffering.”
“Because I’d rather kill you than watch you destroy yourself like this.” Maan turns away without another word. The door slams hard behind him.
Ekagra just smiles...
He watches his phone buzzes on the floor, the cracked screen lighting up. The screen flickers once.
And his smile disappears.
